Well, as of now there is not going to be a Newt in the presidential campaign but he will remain available to espouse his views on all things politic. For that I am glad and hope there are those out there on the conservative side who will use some of the information he will be offering. I still think at this point that Hillary will be the one to defeat.
Lots of things going on right now with one of them being the supreme court hearing today involving the international courts ruling on a rape and murder "committed by an other illegal" case in Texas. This one pits the attorney general and Bush against Texas and siding with the international courts. A sorry situation to say the least.
The F.I.S.A. hearing also going on in the house trying once again to water down the ability of the USA to fight terrorists across the world. The temporary extension for six months is due to expire soon and I am not sure how this will come out but am hoping that the house will hold together for what may be a very tuff fight. With that in mind I still have hope that good sense will prevail.

Newt is my Man
Newt Gingrich is in the process of deciding on his announcement for a run at the office of president. I want to make my announcement at this time saying that I will support Mr Gingrich and give my vote to him should he decide to run. I think that there is no one person on either side of the political spectrum that can give voice to the problems that plague America like Newt can. So saying that at this point I again give my backing to him should he decide to make a run for the office of president of the United States of America.
I also think that Hillary will be the candidate for the Democrat side and this will showcase the differences between the two parties should Newt be the candidate for the Republican party. I think once there is a "real debate" between the two candidates, then the vote between Democrat and Republican will be made clear and people will see the true line that exists between the two parties. There will not be any chance of stonewalling on the real answers to questions that will be raised. People will be faced once and for all with the differences that exists between Republican and Democrat. This difference that exists is hardwired and real all the way to the bone. Go Newt!

Still the noise, and listen to the sounds around you. There are still sounds of sobbing from those who have lost loved ones in the towers. Tears still fall from the eyes of mothers, fathers, siblings and others who have lost loved ones in the war that still rages across the ocean in the sands of Iraq. How long do the tears continue to fall? How long must the sounds of sobbing be heard?
There is not an answer that can be given that will be exact, only a guess and even when it's an educated one, it's no more than a guess. We fight against an enemy that is cowardly in its tactics and ruthless from the core.Time brings more death daily, yet we need the time in hopes that our progress will push the enemy to a point where the government of Iraq will come together long enough to stand up where the people of Iraq can believe that the future of Iraq is one where they can see themselves as part of the whole.
There are those of us that have stood by this president from the very beginning and continue to believe that with continued determination we can bring this war to a point which will allow the Iraqi people to take matters into their own hands and allow the bulk of our servicemen to come home. There again is that element of time which continues to taunt and tease. Time is not endless and neither is the ability of our men and money with which we wage this terrible conflict.
Today marks another year that we have reached without another assault against our land, remember though that they only have to win one time and we have to win every time so the chances are that one day we will let one get through.We must not let complacency or infighting of the parties cause our guard to fall or our attention to be turned from this watch that we now stand.
I am concerned about a lot of members on the liberal side of government. They seem to not believe there is real danger from those that we now fight in Iraq or that this is all some smoke screen that has been put into play by George Bush and Dick Cheney. I find it very hard at times to think rationally when I hear some of the remarks about how this country is fighting this war to take over the oil in Iraq. The statements of how the president lied to get us into this war. The statements of Dick Cheney is in this for the money. So childish, and all the while hating their own country by saying things about how we are killing indiscriminately and just want to take over the whole of that part of the world.
The Democrat party will now have to face up to one of two things with one group called Move On Dot Org, a group funded by George Sorros along with other groups that hate this country like a-n-s-w-e-r and a couple
of communist regimes and others that fail to come to mind at this time. This group put the big ad in the Times yesterday to welcome General Petraeus with the degrading of his name using General Betray-us. The Democrat party needs to offer a disclaimer or by failing to respond they will by default show their approval of the group.
Be strong in our fight believe in this country and its' goodness. We are truly a great country and work hard to do good for those we are supporting in Iraq. changing tides
I have had several of my friends ask me why I haven't posted anything in such a long time and I suppose it is time for me to answer that question. How about sick and tired of listening to the continuous rant of certain individuals from a certain side of the political spectrum, namely... democrat. Really though I have been down with my health and haven't been able to get real mad so now I am feeling better I am able to get mad now.
I want to go straight to the situation in Iraq. Here we are in a place where our troops are in jeopardy each and every day of getting killed or maimed. They do such a wonderful job of carrying out their orders while showing constraint with the people they are in charge of protecting each and every day of their tour in Iraq. Here in this country the drone of defeat continues across the land as certain individuals whine day in and day out.
Friends, let me ask of those that do this "drone of defeat" what will you do my friend when the battle shows that you are proved wrong? I ask that in all seriousness because I fully believe that the program which President Bush has set out is now beginning to show progress. It has taken a long time but there is evidence that all this effort is now showing the world that progress is indeed being made. What do the Democrat folk do at this point? It seems they have done everything they can to humiliate the president in every way imaginable and in spite of those efforts progress continues to be made. What words do you use when the tides are turned and all is in our favor. That time when the enemy has finally gotten so tired of fighting a war that they no longer control. What do the Democrat officials tell their constituents when they find out we are actually winning the war in Iraq?
In spite of all the negative efforts from the democrat party our troops will continue to do what George Bush said they would do, and that is to give this new struggling democracy of Iraq a chance to succeed in building a freedom unlike anything ever seen in their country before. Will it come to what we have here in the USA? No! It will be something that can be used to build on and expand to a point where they are much better off than any group in that part of the world. Plus it will be a buffer and something other countries may try to copy. Time will tell and that will take time.
So at this point, let us all watch what folks begin to say and do as progress continues in Iraq. Al Sadr will become less important in the coming weeks and months even though other groups in the Shite community will continue to flex their muscles against one another. From all the turmoil between the groups hopefully there will come more compromise and somehow another chance at a lasting truce.
AL Maliki will have to bend concerning the Shiite militias, he cannot do otherwise without losing the position he now has. There will be more groups there in Iraq that will do the right thing by making deals with one another. How far this will go will not be known right away. Time will be the medicine that will either heal or kill. Some will find it right to bring an end to this current situation while others will continue to ride with wild abandon the destruction which has brought such turmoil to this country.
The surge will and is working, and if the Democrat party does not give in to their defeatism, then at that point success can be had. It will not come suddenly but it will happen. This country has to hold together and not bow down to those radicals of Islam. There were words uttered in times gone by about how the house falls apart that stands divided. This is that house we live in now, it is called "America'. If we do not stand together in this time then there may come a time where that falling apart may be down around our own heads and not far away.

reclaim our pride
What does the Democrat folk have in mind for us now? Let's see now, we finally have the amount of troops into the Baghdad area that General Petraeus called for. Troops now are at the level asked for and they have been there for only about three weeks. Yep, time to gather up the boys and girls call it quits and lets go home. Hell of a plan there Senator Harry, yes indeed a hell of a plan.
What is wrong with these people up there in congress that are supposed to be taking care of this country? Do they honestly think that when they, "draw down the troops" that Bin Ladens' boys are just going to sit back and say oh boy we won, now we can close up shop and call everything good. I don't think so people! There is that thing about wanting to kill the infidels, and then there is that little matter of the reestablishment of the Caliphate. Just think of all the bragging that will be done and all the nut jobs that will flock to his cause should we be voted out of Iraq with our tails between our legs. Not a good deal I think to go off and leave these folks with all those ideas still bubbling in their heads, it may just boil over and cause some problems.
Why not spend some time trying to figure out a way to put some backbone back into the decisions being made up there in Washington? What is wrong with wanting to win? What's happening here is the pride in our power has been broken or is being broken one. Either way it isn't a good thing what is taking place here now. For our representatives to be standing in the halls of Congress, this great debate center, spouting great and flowering words while doing nothing more than seeing who can outrun the other one to the white flag is sad for me to see.
People, remember this, from the beginning Bin Laden has preached to his followers,"Black-hawk Down", and all they had to do was to hold on long enough and cause a split in the government by killing some number of our soldiers. Bin Ladens' teachings to his men were that the USA would not stand together long enough to achieve victory. Will he be right? I sure as hell hope not.
We were told in the very beginning how difficult this process would be, in men lost, in money spent, and in the pain and suffering the people would go through amongst ourselves. These things all have come to pass and there is still more of the same that awaits us in the coming years. That is regardless if we stay or if we leave. Believe me, should we leave before there is a resolution found in Iraq there will be people making their way into this country and they will do here in the US what they are doing there in Iraq. The plan in progress in Baghdad now is showing signs of success. Finally some of the people of Iraq are beginning to give help to the troops by pointing out the insurgents and where some ied's are buried.
The Democrats want to leave Iraq and go look for terrorists. What kind of nonsense is that? The terrorists are there and this will go on for a long time and during that time I would just as soon see a bunch of terrorists killed right there in Iraq rather than here in the streets of the United States. We need to reclaim the pride of our power in this great country.

The fight isn't over
The battle of the illegals into this country has been brought to a halt for the time being. The votes were cast and with the input of many people with strong convictions the voices of those opposed to amnesty was heard. Some senators and congressmen were none too pleased form the outcry of concerned Americans who said no to the attempt to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. Finally our voice was heard and although this will not be the end of this debate it will for the time being stop this madness of giving away citizenship like kupee dolls at a fair.
I would compare this bill to a merry-go-round where individuals try for the brass ring to win the prize. The illegals are on the ride without a ticket regardless if they grab the ring or not they are already riding while others with tickets stand in line, and those are the ones playing by the rules. For now we may take but a short pause before we have to prepare for the next round because if a Democrat gets into the White House you can be assured the provisions offered in the amendments to this bill will never hold back the flow of more amnesty seekers into this country.

It's Amnesty Folks
Lots of illegals are in this country now and the president is saying those in his party that reject his policy for letting all these people in are not being good Americans. This statement pisses me off to no end. I stand by the president for many of the actions he has taken in the past and still support the fight in Iraq but this situation with the illegals has really gotten under my skin. There will be a virtual meltdown when the full impact of allowing this bill before the house and senate comes in to effect. There is this false argument that people who want the amnesty use when they say you cannot deport 12 million people. How about deport five hundred a week? How about start fining the hell out of these people that do the hiring of illegals. This argument about separating families is ridiculous, if the parent is any parent at all they sure as hell would not go off with out having their child with them. We didn't force these people to cross the border and stay over here and we don't owe them anything because they broke the law and now want us to feel sorry because their child was born here.
Yes, I am disappointed with the stand Mr Bush has taken with this immigration issue. I hope people pull together before it becomes too late and send enough voice to our representatives that they do the right thing. I say once again that this position the president has taken is one I cannot back. memorial day
Memorial day and I give thanks to all the troops that have served in this latest war and those that have served in all the wars this country has ever fought in. Giving thanks to all those that have given so much by serving and those that gave their lives brings some sadness to this day. We must not forget our fighting forces and we must keep them in our prayers and we must not forget the family of these brave individuals and the sacrifice they make with sharing their loved one with this nation for that period of time they serve in keeping this nation safe.
Today was a very good day for me. I had company from friends and the visit was good even if it may not have been long enough it certainly was good to have them stop over and spend the night. Vick and Sherri live across the state from me and although I still have not gone there, "Las Cruces", to visit them, I will be making the trip later this year.
Tomorrow we plan to make a short trip out to a lake about 12 miles from Hobbs. Years in the past many hours were spent by Vick and I doing our damnedest to catch every fish in that hole and down a couple beers in the process. That time is the past and the lake has lost all its former glory as a fishing hole because now the banks are covered with cat-tails and blocking access to where you can't even cast your bait into the water.
Perhaps some day the state will come to the aid of the lake and make it useful to the fishing public once again. That is the hope but I honestly don't see it happening any time soon. Tomorrow I will go and enjoy the trip and enjoy the time I get to spend with my old friend and hope some day somebody in government manages get the lake back in shape. Who knows perhaps one day one of those soldiers or individuals now fighting overseas will return to find this old lake in good condition, Just a thought...

McCain
McCain has decided to toss into the ring a hat that may not fit. Some in the conservative party tend to shy away from McCain because of his view on immigration. There are other differences but this one seems to have really stirred the ire of many in his party. I will go through more of the issues later in the day if I am able to get back on line before I hit the sack tonight. I will check in later and see if I can get some of my thoughts out and get back to writing.

I'm Back
How long has it been since I jotted anything in my blog? I thought about that today as I lay trying to take a nap this afternoon. I can see from the date it had been some time since I put anything down in my blog. This is only a sign of laziness rather than something profound which was holding me from all this. In the future I hope to write more. I need to do this to be sure of what I go through each and every day.
I figure there has to be some way to get thoughts running around in my head and maybe even crash into one another. When that happens, maybe then some of those words will gather enough momentum and propel them forward into more writing. I hope so because I do need to stir the brain juices. For now I will close my eyes in the hope that tomorrow will bring something I want to write about.

I happen to like Newt and believe him to be one of, if not the smartest individual around when it comes to politics. The idea of having some of the presidential hopefuls come together for a real debate is wonderful and I look forward to them. I hope to have a few more videos to put up soon.

give me a break!
Congress continues their debate oops, "their charade", on what I see as the necessary first step in cutting funds for the troops. There is much talk of this being the first step and for us to look forward two weeks when they consider the next steps for the military. This is where the quitters fail to meet the goal. I believe the process now will involve the Democrats trying to do the funding of our great military in steps, or perhaps putting limitations on where and when money is allocated to the troops. The congress with their, great knowledge of all things military, will decide continuation, direction, or denial of those funds.
I would like to say this to the people of the Congress. There is this thing which continues to bring me near the point of screaming at my TV. I'm sick and tired of this, "I support the troops but I cannot support the mission crap". Hey Johnny!, I love you son, but I just can't support your team to win this years title. I know I bought you those uniforms. I know you have trained a long time. and I know it is for our state title. I just can't see paying for the playoff. Besides it will upset some of the other teams but mainly Johnny, we just hate the coach. Johnny don't mind, after all you still love Johnny and his team even though you aren't going to send in a replacement and they play short handed.
HEY LISTEN I just found out from several overseas news outlets that many of those inside Iran are now saying they want the terrorists to leave Baghdad and come back to the border of Iran and await further orders. There is also lots of talk inside Syria that the people their want those fighting our troops out of Iraq immediately. Word is the people around the mid-east and many even in Europe are calling on the terrorists to leave that area they can no longer support them in their fight against the USA. I wonder what this will do to the terrorists over there now that they are losing support?
This is great! Now what we need to do at this point is increase our movements in and around the Baghdad area and apply more force towards the enemy. If they now are under this pressure from those countries around that area they will begin to lose their reason for their sacrifices. We must do as much as we can to apply our forces and now that they can see their country men back home calling for their retreat they know the USA and other allies will pursue them with much vigor. No longer can they stand with such determination since they no longer have as much support from their old providers and supporters.
I wish this were true but of course it isn't. I wonder if those terrorist inside Iraq would be discouraged Ms Pelosi, and if their spirits would be somewhat broken? Do you think the terrorists would want to go ahead and continue fighting when so much of their support was now against them? I doubt those fighters would now have as much incentive to blow themselves up now. What would be their reason for doing all that killing now and dying? Ms Pelosi can you now see how the actions of congress would appear to our enemies? What is this terrible hate so many on the far left, and many I believe on the liberal left have for the military? I ask you Ms Pelosi this one last thing, what if we win?
I would like to say this to the people of the Congress. There is this thing which continues to bring me near the point of screaming at my TV. I'm sick and tired of this, "I support the troops but I cannot support the mission crap". Hey Johnny!, I love you son, but I just can't support your team to win this years title. I know I bought you those uniforms. I know you have trained a long time. and I know it is for our state title. I just can't see paying for the playoff. Besides it will upset some of the other teams but mainly Johnny, we just hate the coach. Johnny don't mind, after all you still love Johnny and his team even though you aren't going to send in a replacement and they play short handed.
HEY LISTEN I just found out from several overseas news outlets that many of those inside Iran are now saying they want the terrorists to leave Baghdad and come back to the border of Iran and await further orders. There is also lots of talk inside Syria that the people their want those fighting our troops out of Iraq immediately. Word is the people around the mid-east and many even in Europe are calling on the terrorists to leave that area they can no longer support them in their fight against the USA. I wonder what this will do to the terrorists over there now that they are losing support?
This is great! Now what we need to do at this point is increase our movements in and around the Baghdad area and apply more force towards the enemy. If they now are under this pressure from those countries around that area they will begin to lose their reason for their sacrifices. We must do as much as we can to apply our forces and now that they can see their country men back home calling for their retreat they know the USA and other allies will pursue them with much vigor. No longer can they stand with such determination since they no longer have as much support from their old providers and supporters.
I wish this were true but of course it isn't. I wonder if those terrorist inside Iraq would be discouraged Ms Pelosi, and if their spirits would be somewhat broken? Do you think the terrorists would want to go ahead and continue fighting when so much of their support was now against them? I doubt those fighters would now have as much incentive to blow themselves up now. What would be their reason for doing all that killing now and dying? the beat goes on
Another day went by and the news still reflects the sounds of defeat from the Democrats. There is the call from the left as well the far left to impeach the president along with the call to withdraw from Iraq as soon as possible. I do not have any idea in the world where they will go from here. From what I see it is as though there is this "kid in the candy store" mentality going on within the ranks of the Democrat party. Plenty of investigations taking place each day in as many areas as they can come up with. They cannot contain their joy with all the prospects ahead of them.
Yesterday I watched c-span for a while with Maxine Waters and Mrs Woolsey hold some sort of get-to-gather with a group of authors, all of which had written books condemning Bush and the war. Each author gave about a five minute talk downing the war and Bush as they were called on. With the conclusion of each authors speech there was much clapping for the author and boos for the president. Ms Waters said that in most meetings like this where the congress holds meetings the protocol was for no clapping cheering or standing when someone gave their speech but since this was her meeting and it was just her and Ms Woolsey, she not only approved such conduct she encouraged it. Very unprofessional in my opinion but also a very democrat thing to do.
More to come as the days go by. I need to try to catch C-Span tonight and find out what I missed today. I know there was to be another couple meetings in the house and a senate meeting I think. Just have to check it all out and try to keep an eye on things so as not to get too far behind on the Democrat agenda.

don't give up now
Lots of defeatist talk is being heard from politicians here of late. The president is delusional if he thinks increasing the troops will get us out of this quagmire. This escalation is a disaster for the US. The list of words being used instead of surrender these days has really gotten longer. You have heard them many times by now, withdraw, over-the-hill, re-deploy, disengage, and the list goes on and on. The president isn't living in reality and don't know what is really happening.
I wonder if our enemy knows what is happening? Do you think maybe since the enemy plays for the cameras and can hear all this talk about how the US can't win, maybe, they have this crazy thought that someone else is going to win? Let me think now, if we aren't going to win, it must be the other side that is going to win, wow must be the enemy. Surely they won't take advantage of the lack of determination or our lack of commitment, perhaps they will be able to catch up with us as we run away and beg us to sit down and have some peace talks with them. I bet that is what they will do, talk with us and even help us pack, then wave bye and promise they won't come to the US, that's just another lie from Bush. They would never come to the US and try to stir up trouble here. I bet that's what they'll do, just stay over there and do civil war and Iran will stay within their borders and not interfere with Iraq.
Reality has it different in a way, all this talk from the politicians and citizens about us retreating from Iraq has the enemy emboldened. De funding the troops and retreating is the plans from the congress and not from the president. The enemy knows George Bush is going to keep right on coming no matter about the whining from congress. I think the enemy had hoped the congress would do as in Vietnam and get squeamish and loose their courage and faith then pull out, tail between the legs just like they are talking about doing now. I don't think our enemies planned on old psycho George not keeping his word and turning to run. I believe the rats in Baghdad may decide that standing and fighting with old crazy lying George might not be the best idea. What's going on? I thought Osama said the president wouldn't stand to fight. Now what?
Our enemies respect strength and in the end they will not stand against the real strength and courage of our brave fighting forces. This surge the president has ordered will make a difference in Iraq and when all is said and done, with Gods' help we can prevail. The process will be slow at times as the president said years ago and often since then. It will not be easy but it will be worth it.
Tomorrow there will be a big anti-war rally with many sorts of people attending. The enemy will be watching and will be given further assurance from the protesters that they are indeed winning the war in Iraq and the United States wants to cut and run. What will these same people say and do when we win? I hope they remember well their actions when time reveals truth to not only them but to the world as a whole.

couple of choices
The president spoke last night to the nation and as I sat and took in his words I tried to imagine how this all would come to pass. There is no way of knowing the outcome of this war in Iraq. There are two possibilities that stand before us. We can leave that country in the hands of a people whose future stands to prosper within and able to merge ideas and commerce with countries across the globe. On the other hand we can leave that country in the hands of a people whose future stands to collapse from the weight of the terrorists and the ravages of outside interventionist come to claim the spoils from a country left to fend for itself.
The president reminded the members of congress that congress did not vote for failure in this operation in Iraq. This my friends is the other option that lays ahead if we do not take advantage of this proposal laid out by the president in his speech last night. In life there are no guarantees only opportunities from which choices are made. The results from those choices have to be dealt with and in so doing produces more choices. None of the decisions the president has made have been made without soul-searching effort on his part. This I firmly believe in my heart. Those that criticize him for his lack of care and concern are wrong.
Our troops will move into the Baghdad area with the Iraqi troops and will make progress in clearing the enemies from the city. There will be many deaths in the process and I believe the media will once again hound the troops and look for any slip that can cause the president or the troops embarrassment. They will constantly look for any reason to discourage the public and probably will find many. Regardless I look for this new assault to produce good results. The time for this will be long and will take patience.
I want to say one more thing about the Democrat view of the president doing nothing more than adding troops. There are other activities taking place in Iraq while this is going on there are attempts to bring together the opposing forces. There is some communicating with the neighboring states and many more things taking place along with the increase in troops.

The Americans are weak and will not stay the course. They will run when they see death. Their people are weak and will recall their troops. This has been preached by Bin Ladin and others from day one. Will he be right? When this president leaves office this war will continue and the next president will have to continue. a restful day
I opened the blinds in the kitchen this morning and looked across the back yard. Snow had fallen through the night and we had about three inches by the time it finally came to a halt. There is more predicted by daylight Sunday morning. At five am with the glow of a security light from the neighbors yard I watched as a light wind whipped some of the flakes through the crisp cold morning air. The dead grasses of summer now covered with a white blanket of snow made a pleasant sight as I prepared coffee. Of course by evening the flip side of this picture will show up as slush with the texture of grit and the color of mud. Quite a change but part of the whole picture so one has to enjoy before it reaches that final stage.
There is lots of beauty in this world and sometimes we miss the sights that are there for us to enjoy. I guess it is just taking the time to slow down for a minute and take it all in. I forget at times about this trip we are on, that one called life, and how important it is not to get too wrapped up in the details. I study about current events and listen to how people let those events effect them in their daily lives. It is important to stay abreast of current events at the same time I need to look around more and in my search for understanding of what is taking place around me I still need to stop and smell the flowers. liberal shame
Jimmy Carter and Mondale were on TV this afternoon and although I was unable to catch the interview I did pick up on the gist of what they were talking about and wouldn't you know it was Bush that they were talking about. More bashing of the president from Carter, plus some snide remarks from Mondale about Cheney in this time of war is disgraceful. I find both of their actions to be contemptible. There was once a time when past presidents didn't comment on sitting presidents. That is not the case anymore. Bill Clinton and Carter both have done their share of snipping at the current president. You didn't see this from George Bush 41 because he has class.
Why the democrat party patriots want to continuously browbeat the president is shameful. vote this!
Today has been one where my ears have been so inflamed with the talk from Biden, Hagle, and others. There are people out there using their voice of freedom in a way I feel is not good for the US and not good for our troops. There is no way our troops could be pulled out of Iraq in any quick fashion. If all went well it would take 6 months to remove the troops if not longer. Since we know they are not going to be pulled out, and everybody alive is clamoring how the current plan is not working, then why not support this plan from the President that has the possibility of doing some good? Why must these "patriotic servants" in government be crying out ''uncle" before our troops, along with the Iraqi forces are even given the chance to make improvements in Baghdad. The senate and maybe the house will go through the motions of some phony vote of disapproval against the President's plan and in so doing will give encouragement to the enemy and could discourage our troops. The enemy over there will not be satisfied to see the US troops leave Iraq. They will only be satisfied when they are in the US doing here, what they are doing there in Iraq.

thoughts
MLK day. I didn't celebrate it. I also didn't celebrate Presidents day. There are a number of days posted on our calendars I don't celebrate and many I'm never aware of until it is mentioned to me. I think when you have so many days that are supposed to be special then by the fact there are so many in itself cheapens the very concept.
Politicians need a special day. I don't rightly know what to call it though. All American Liars Day isn't taken yet, maybe we could use that one. Yep that's a good idea. We have them go to work on their special day and eat cake and have ice cream and then blow out the candles and then go home and don't do anything else until the next All American Liars Day when they would come to have cake and ice cream once more.
How many more hours in this damn 100 hour Pelosi thing? How great is that? Spend a month or more trying to make a hundred hours up. See now why that Liars day thing is a good idea? They will waste this time on bills that over the span of time will have no effect on the growth of this country. These are just talking points for their next elections. I expect soon to hear from John Conyers and his reparations bill again. I don't know what all will come out of the 110th congress but I assure you one thing that will come is the hearings and they probably will last a long time and will spread a great deal of anger in the process.

What it the deal?
This day has dragged along. Weather has been dreary with cloudy skies and drizzle. Early morning greeted us with a temperature of 23 degrees which slowly climbed to 32 by mid afternoon before starting a return to another very cold night with more drizzle causing roads to ice over in many places. The next few days appear to follow this pattern and it does so without my approval for sure.
Here is the news of the day. I continue to hear the same speech coming from those that assume this war is destined to end in defeat for America. I can't bring myself to accept those sentiments. I can recall when this war started. I remember thinking how the people seemed determined not to let this war end like Vietnam ended. The people pulled together at first but as soon as things didn't appear as though it would end quickly then almost immediately the same attitude and rhetoric, the same blame and impatience, the same people and slogans, the same blame America first and the same cut and run attitude appeared once more, only louder and through more forms of media, to give strength and determination to the enemy.
I can't bring myself to think these people of America, honestly want the US to loose this war. I do think these people must be naive when it comes to what they believe this enemy wants to do to us. To not understand the true desire of this enemy is to open yourself up to disaster because, they not only want to win in Iraq, they also want to defeat all that area so they once again can reestablish a caliphate from which they could begin to rule with the radical hand of a misguided religion. Ladies and gentlemen that is not their only desire. When they take control of that area they will be able to blackmail the western world through control of the oil.
The US through its adherence to certain rules of engagement in war automatically puts itself behind the eight ball when dealing with our enemy. We tend to be nice in the process of killing those trying to kill us. We try not to kill the people handing our enemies the bullets or passing them the grenades, they are just innocent bystanders. We try to limit any killing of young radicals, while they are in training to kill us, because the media refers to them as children. We also limit firing on their mosques where the radical enemy sometimes pray between the planning of their future battles and the reloading of their weapons.
Let me think now, the presidents critics said his stay the course wasn't working, he changed it. The critics said he didn't have enough troops, he increased the troop level. The critics said the Iraqis' needed to step up, the Iraqis are moving into Baghdad in bigger numbers. The critics said the Iraqi government needed to do something about the oil problem, they are dividing the oil output. The critics wants to know the number of troops that will be killed, the critics want to know when the troops will be finished, the critics want to make sure we don't upset the Iranians, the critics want to make sure we don't piss off Syria, but mainly the critics want George Bush to screw up so much they can hardly contain them selves. That is the real deal my friends.

All Aboard!
Hard for me to understand some of the attitudes that are being shown today. Perhaps It really isn't that hard when I think about it. In truth, half of those now complaining are the same ones that always complained perhaps now with a bit more emphasis since they are in the majority. Now look down the road two years and you can see why all the primping and posturing is taking place. The fact is that many on the Republican side are doing the same thing as well. It's a damn shame these people, hired to work for us and our benefit, end up putting more time and stock in building up their image for their next election than they do in building up the image of this country to the world.
So much hatred is being directed at this president from the left it is unbelievable. Sometimes when I hear these awful things about the president or our country I have to look close to see who it is saying these things, and quite often it is one of our own congressmen or senators. Unreal to me, that's what it is, just plain unreal. How can people talk about their country and their president like some of these people have done? Where does all their anger come from? Some people have so much hatred for George Bush that they have been blinded to common sense. This anger they have should be directed to those that are determined to destroy the western way of life. now for some patience
The president has spoken tonight and tomorrow will have all the media folks denouncing what was said and their cry will be about him not listening to his last generals, too few troops to do any good, plus the public wants the troops out. I'm not a general but, there are very few options left on the list to choose from if one is interested in trying to win this war. On the other hand, if one is interested in loosing this war then I suppose the option of picking up and leaving would be a choice one could make, but not me.
I think the thing which separates the sides (R's and D's) in this war is the wining aspect and the loosing aspect. I think the liberal side believes that if we were to leave before the job is finished that the troops will just come back to the states and continue where they left off prior to our involvement in Iraq, or that perhaps we may go back into Afghanistan and do some more there. Either way I feel that they do not think there will be any further instances with terrorists once we leave there and get back on US soil. I am a R and I tend to think that the gate has been opened and it will not be closed on the terrorists by walking away from the problem. They will have fought our troops and decided that since they ran us from Iraq that, Allah had answered their prayers and given them victory. The president gave his thoughts on what he believes may give the Iraqi people their independence from all the violence. To some this may seem more of the same or, just more good after bad. It may be our chance to finally help the Iraqi people and the US do what so many said couldn't be done, not only for Iraq but for that whole area. I hope this effort is productive and brings the Shiia and the Sunni to realize, unless they decide to work together that there last chance of self determination and rule will have vanished before their eyes. I don't know what happens from here but I do feel a little less of this defeatist attitude from certain Americans wouldn't continue to inspire some of our enemies.
I think the thing which separates the sides (R's and D's) in this war is the wining aspect and the loosing aspect. I think the liberal side believes that if we were to leave before the job is finished that the troops will just come back to the states and continue where they left off prior to our involvement in Iraq, or that perhaps we may go back into Afghanistan and do some more there. Either way I feel that they do not think there will be any further instances with terrorists once we leave there and get back on US soil. I am a R and I tend to think that the gate has been opened and it will not be closed on the terrorists by walking away from the problem. a proud American.
I saw Ted Kennedy today on several of the pundit shows and he was talking about the situation in Iraq. Lots of confusing words about the senate and the house regarding their particular rolls funding wars and standing troops, their numbers and placement. I do think the man was quite off on his assesment of the situation during wartime compared to the presidential powers from what others were saying but I am just a citizen.
Almost from the beginning of this war there has been a constant buzz from a certain portion of the Democrat wing trying very hard to tie this war in Iraq to Vietnam. I think they have finally succeeded in their effort. I finally found that certain something in this war which reminds me of Vietnam. I can't understand why I didn't see this before now. The thing I see here which brings to my mind images of Vietnam is, the complete loss of pride by the liberals in the pure power of our great nation.
Just like in the 70's when people were ashamed of this country and our soldiers. That lack of pride in our strength and power is the same as it is now. People blaming the US rather than laying blame where it rightly belongs, while doing all they can to look for a short simple answer that will not last. Our enemy will not be content to stay out of our country and one can be assured they will follow us when we leave if we do not pull together to confront them now where they are and with all the force we can muster. The president will give a speech tomorrow night and I will listen and I know ahead of time that I will stand behind him on his choice of action. Why you ask? We are in a war and the enemy must see us as united or they will see us as they saw us in Vietnam, weak and divided. If we leave again as in somalia or Vietnam the US will continue to be a target from here on out.

next last good idea
Wednesday night there will be a speech from the president on Iraq. The question that is being asked by the media is will the number of troops in Iraq be increased or not and if so by how many will the number be increased? I feel troop increase has to be done at this time for many reasons but mainly to change momentum. There is a stalemate atmosphere that permeates Baghdad at this time. Bring in more US troops and also increase the number of Iraqi troops as well and start to utilize the power which our troops can produce. Clear and hold areas as quickly as possible with Iraqi troops in the lead as much as possible.
Here is the latest line from Pelosi and company. Bush said he would listen to the generals on the ground about the size of the force needed in Iraq. The generals don't want more troops, so why doesn't Bush listen to the generals? Here is the reason. Everyone has been saying Bush needed to change course and stop being hardheaded. The Iraq study group said there needed to be a change because what was going on in Iraq was not working. What was not working was the plans the current generals had in place for the last couple years. Remeber in the past Pelosi has also said that we need more troops in Iraq as well.
George Bush listened to a lot of folks and has come to realize that his "stay the course" was not working. The president heard the message and has decided to change this, "stay the course plan", and his new generals also believe this stay the course plan needs changing. I hope his new course is to increase the number of troops in Iraq and give the new generals a chance to implement their new plans. The opposition continues to pummel the president and Bush is, "be damned if he does and be damned if he doesn't". There are other plans for helping with job opportunities, getting the Iraq goverenment to involve all in the oil sharing and other plans as well.
This may or may not work according to plans but regardless we must not let this war end by us walking out of Iraq and breaking our commitment to the Iraqi people. There is a group of people in Iraq that are torn by what they hear from the news media. They hear the US will pull out and leave it to their new government before they are ready. Lots of the people there sit on the fence and are afraid if they go to the side of the new government and then the US leaves again that, they will be targets of the terrorists and sectarian violence because of their choosing to become involved in helping the US. These are a people that have lived under such violence so long that, their will perhaps is not strong enough yet so we must not give the impression that we will leave them stranded. We can do this if we do not lose our nerve and present a strong united front to those we struggle with and those we struggle against during this perilous time.

still trying
I felt down some today with a need to rest and lay low. I hope tomorrow will come with some refreshing thoughts that I can focus on and give my opinion. I still haven't been able to get my line of thought going in the right direction. My thoughts want to sort of glance off target and that isn't what I want to be taking place in these posts. It will take more effort on my part to bring things together so as to present a more readable thought or two.
The year is young and I am making the effort to put something down here each day. Every day presents an opportunity to hit it out of the park but for a while I'll be satisfied with a few lucky rolls from an occasional bunt. Lots of topics will be in the news every day for me to choose from. This year will be especially busy and lots of it will be from events about terrorists. There will be lots of these events from abroad but I feel there will some unfortunately be right here in our own country. I hope people are becoming aware of all the possibilities out there and realize the need to be alert and become more aware of events in the news. Try to watch your representatives and also school yourselves on our government and politicians so you can make the right choices when the time comes to stand up and make those critical choices on election days from here on.
I will continue trying to learn more about myself as I struggle in the process of writing each day. While I am doing these daily writings I hope I am able to gain an insight on the world around me. I trust somewhere along the line I will gain a greater understanding of many things, but hopefully among what I learn I hope the greatest is about people.

it's Baghdad now
I heard today Maliki has decided to start making some changes with his guys over there. He is going to make a crack down on some of the bad guys there in the city I wish this could be true still I have a few doubts. I also have this thought that perhaps when the president talked to him he told him the time had passed for him to be getting Muqtada al-Sadr in line and some of the others that are responsible for killings or, they may be some bad choices left for the Iraqi government. If we do bring in the extra troops they must be allowed to do their job so they can start bringing some sanity to Baghdad. I want to think there is an opening here I don't have anyway of knowing but I do have this hopeful feeling.
Baghdad could be the key to what sits ahead when you start talking about success in Iraq. I feel if they could apply a lot of energy there with Iraqi troops involved heavily along with the Americans and go through the areas where trouble has been most horrific and do it this time with heavy force so there will not be any doubt this time, and be sure to inflict deadly force to those that have been causing the killings in the city. It must not matter which side of the conflict those killed are on. The only matter should be that they be dispatched with urgency and when these areas are cleared reinforce them with Iraqi troops immediately. It must be a complete cleaning up of the entire city block by block if necessary.
The young men in Iraq must be put to work and the clerics must be made to get some control of their worshipers with some method. Make work projects let them understand the sooner they come together the sooner we leave. The main thing to me is that there now has to be a show of real strength made by the troops and they must be given some room to do their jobs so we can leave in a proper manner and a proper time.

watching the politicians
I spent some time today flipping through the stations and finally ending up on C-Span to see how the two sides were doing as they began their sparring. Watching and listening to both sides I was able to see that things indeed appeared much the same. Some of the same old arguments from the last congress already showing its' face to us here in the early stages of the 110th congress as they begin the struggle of power and domination. I am going to step out on a limb here and say no more than three weeks max after this 100 hour thing and it will be ugly in the halls of congress. The hostility will not be kept under wraps and the feathers will become very ruffled and the accusations are going to be flying hard and fast. I look for some especially good fights in the Ways and Means committee when Charlie Rangel starts hearings. Jane Harmon will soon be showing her disapproval with the way she was treated by the speaker and this will continue for some time. I'm not sure how it will surface but it will. Don't forget John Cohnyers and Alcee Hastings, oh wow the list goes on and on, don't cha just love watching the politicians? The five day workk week alreadyy off to a good start, lets see now....won't be starting Monday because of a ball game. Thats congress, once again taking care of the peoples business. Yeah, sure they are.

the Pelosi crowd begins
This will be a short post mainly to help me stay in the habit of writing something each day on my blog. Habits can be a good thing when it is for worthwhile projects. The proceedings went well for the new house speaker today. Lots of pomp and fanfare in the swearing in of members while family looked on with pride as their loved ones were being sworn in to office on this January day. I find myself feeling a great deal of pride in this country when events take place such as today. Here we are after quite a spirited battle and still this country is able to come together and transfer power peacefully with no guns required in the process of making that change. Quite impressive to me, quite impressive indeed.
There are lots of challenges looming on the horizon and I hope our elected officials will stay wary of what could be headed our way. Don't get us so involved within the procedures that you allow circumstance to overtake us. I have heard already today, words from the majority that were punctuated with some degree of gloating, which may be fine if kept in check and not overdone. Today the far left with Cindy Shehan in lead was crying out very loud and very strong for action on the removal of troops in Iraq and much investigation in every area. All too soon this recent power may become too much for the new majority to contain themselves. I simply say to the Democrat folk, be proud of your win in this election my friends but please don't let your glee blind your sight to the important issues facing the country. All this extra pressure on the new house leader and her party and may sway them in a direction that causes them to become so immersed in "oversight" that nothing else gets done in the house. Already the majority is closing the minority out in the house even though there was a promise made to do the exact opposite as early as this morning.

courage
I heard today there were some people ashamed that the guards and witnesses were taunting Saddam when he was being prepared to hang. Many people throughout the US and abroad on the news outlets were blaming part of this on the Iraq government but mainly they said it was the fault of the US. This of course does not surprise me in the least. I wonder what the left and liberals here would truly have us do at this stage of the game. I hear many liberals talking about just getting out now and coming home. I hear nothing about what they think those same enemies we have been fighting will do once we pack our bags and head home. Do they believe they will just dance in the street and sings songs of how they defeated the US? Is there a belief that the main two groups will war between themselves and all the foreign fighters will go home once the US has left? Do we drop off a good size contingency of troops in Afghanistan before we head back? What do we do?
Main complaint from me is this; Why must our strategy be, how do we get out rather than, what do we do to complete this job and give this country back to the Iraqi people? What is so damn hard about gathering the right folks with the right attitude which says lets take this country and do what is necessary to help it stand up for itself. Perhaps it's time to step on a few toes over there and piss off a few folks if that's what it takes. We cannot allow our troops to be told to stand silent while groups are running their hit squads in the dark or even in the light of day. Our troops cannot be told just stand aside and perhaps be killed in the process. I think we have been too damn cautious over there trying not to harm the innocents and by being so careful we have lost way-way, too many people in the process.
The people of this country have got to get their courage back before it is too late. The time may already be at hand when words will not do the job. It will take more, it will take courage to stand up to the turmoil. I'm hoping the UN may come forth with a little more back bone than we have seen in the past. How much good that will be in Iraq I don't know. I know we still have Iran and North Korea on the horizon, and of course we must not forget Syria involved in the midst of all this too. Maybe, just maybe the UN can supply some distraction somewhere in there which may cause one or two of those countries to take heed if only for a brief time. The distraction may allow some good to be done in Iraq if Iran or Syria were being visited by the UN thereby keeping their attention elsewhere. It would be nice to see just don't count on that.

Pridetime America
Another president has been laid to rest and another page turns in Americas' book of history. Another year is upon us and we continue on with the writing of this monumental work of greatness called The United States of America. We all are included in this novel and each of us needs to make sure that our input is included. Our effort may be a chapter, a paragraph or a sentence, perhaps it's only a comma or period among all the goings-on of this great effort. Whatever the part your participation plays, make it count by becoming aware of what takes place in the everyday activities of our politicians as they tend the affairs of this nation. Don't let some politician write the legacy of this country without you at least checking his spelling.
We have the opportunity to make a difference in this country. We cannot make a difference sitting back doing nothing. God, how easy it is to sit down with your friends and discuss what all is wrong with things here. Next time you get with your friends tell them what you have done personally to improve any of the things that are wrong here. The world that opposes the US sees and hears very well what gets said about us and they delight in every tidbit that comes their way. Make no mistake about it just because they make a statement something like; We like the people of the US it is just the administration we disagree with. Bull----! There are a lot of jealous nations out there and they just can't help themselves. There is another group of people out there that just wants to destroy the western world, no questions asked. So, it's like this good people, we are all in this together, stand up with pride, show a united front and our enemies will realize there is no way they can defeat the strength of this nations heart. Write your line now into the history book of this good and great nation. Believe again in the goodness of America and pray for our leaders, the nation, and our troops.

Just 364 more to go
Just wanted to say Happy New Year to all and may this year hold valuable lessons for each one of us and may we all take the time to learn and implement each and every worthwhile tidbit of knowledge that chances to cross or paths.
Another day or so and the news cycle picks up from where it left off and congress begins the process of fixing the ills of the country. I do want there to be some lines drawn so there will be no doubts in the minds of citizens where our representatives stand. Hold them to a standard, one that requires them to keep their word. I look for there to be some bills passed showing how the new people get things done, although the bills will be limited. I doubt the Speaker of the house will shake many branches fearing the fall of a hornets nest. We shall see soon enough, and I do so much look forward to the next two years.
